Toxic soil ‘safe’

In a decision that could lead to legal action and a local school leaving town, the Environment Protection Authority (EPA) has given the go ahead for Maddingley Brown Coal to accept the contaminated soil from the West Gate Tunnel Project.
The EPA stated in a 109-page redacted report, released on Tuesday 1 September, that MBCs site on Kerrs Road, Maddingley, was a suitable place to store the 2.8 million tonnes of PFAS-contaminated soil from the West Gate Tunnel Project.
