As the construction of the new Halletts Way interchange nears completion, pedestrian access across the bridge will be closed.

From Monday October 16, the Halletts Way bridge will be closed to pedestrians until the completion of the new dedicated pedestrian and cycling bridge in mid-2018.

VicRoads Project Director Nigel Powers said safety is the key priority during construction.

“Which is why we need to take all the necessary steps to protect pedestrians,” he said.

“As part of the Halletts Way upgrade, we are building a dedicated pedestrian and cycling bridge, which will provide a fantastic link for people in Bacchus Marsh who have previously had to walk along the side of the roadway”.

Mr Powers said the upgrade is progressing well.

“We are well-advanced in the construction of the two new access ramps to the Western Highway and we are currently building foundations for the new pedestrian and cycling bridge.

“We are really grateful for the community’s patience and understanding during construction, our goal is to keep disruption to a minimum”.

The Australian and Victorian Governments have invested $12.8 million to deliver the Halletts Way Interchange Project, providing the Bacchus Marsh community with new entry and exit ramps and a shared user bridge.
