Travel safe and arrive alive

The Easter long weekend is upon us, make sure your home is secure before heading off on holidays.

Easter has always been a high-risk period on our roads.

We know speeding, impaired driving, fatigue, distraction and not wearing seatbelts are the biggest contributors to road trauma, so we’ll be targeting these behaviours across Easter

Visitors heading to regional areas and holiday hotspots should remember that more than half of the lives lost this year on Victorian roads have occurred in regional areas and on country roads.

Please – slow down, be aware of your surroundings and don’t use your phone while driving.

Be cautious when using GPS and where possible, stick to major highways and avoid shortcuts on unfamiliar rural roads.

Remember to utilise rest stops and take regular breaks when driving on longer trips and unfamiliar roads – fatigue is a major contributor to road trauma.

VicPol will doing everything they can to prevent more lives being lost – so expect to see lots of police, police vehicles and plenty of alcohol and drug testing during this period.

Let’s enjoy this time, travel safely and arrive alive.
