AN ELECTRICITY distributor has shared its plans to reduce power outages in the east of Moorabool, after several hit the area in the past few months.

Powercor stated a range of factors had contributed to these power outages, and the company understands the frustrations of the community.

“We are working to address a series of power disruptions that have affected parts of the Bacchus Marsh and Darley areas,” a Powercor spokesperson said.

“The causes of these power outages vary and include a vehicle impact, extreme weather, lightning damage, and trees coming down in severe winds. These incidents are beyond our control.

“Regardless of the cause, we know these power outages have been frustrating for the community, and we are working to improve reliability on this part of the network.”

Several ideas are under consideration to mitigate outages in the future, Powercor’s spokesperson said.

“We’re investigating a range of options, including redesigning the network to move customers onto different power lines, installing new devices to reduce the area of the outage, and improving technology that can automatically restore power for some customers by redirecting supply.

“In the meantime, we’re going to continue to monitor this part of the network and respond to any fault as safely and as quickly as we can.

“Thank you for your patience and please be assured we’re doing all we can to improve reliability in the area.”
