THE region’s volunteers have been acknowledged for the time and effort they put into making the Moorabool community a better place, with a celebration in Bacchus Marsh.

From 11.30am to 2pm on Wednesday 22 May, Moorabool Shire Council officers hosted a barbecue at The Village Green park.

Volunteers, as well as community members, were invited to attend as part of National Volunteer Week.

Mayor Cr Ally Munari said it was wonderful to have the opportunity to formally recognise and thank volunteers.

She also invited others to learn more about volunteering in Moorabool.

“People volunteer to give back, to do something good, to contribute to their community, but rarely do they receive an official thank you,” Cr Munari said.

“So this National Volunteer Week, we say a massive thank you to all those who volunteer in our communities, through organisations, sporting groups, healthcare, heritage, environment, tourism, and a range of other areas.

“Our volunteers contribute in significant ways to making Moorabool a great place to be.

“Keep an eye on our Facebook page for a suite of videos created by Council staff highlighting the work done by some of our fabulous volunteers.”

Cr Munari encouraged anyone who is interested in volunteering, but isn’t sure where to start, to check out the page on volunteering on council’s website at mooraboool.vic.gov.au/volunteering.
