Springbank Football Netball Club's Bethany Simpson and Maddi Clark put Moorabool Shire councillors Ally Munari , Moira Berry, and Jarrod Bingham, and Member for Eureka Michaela Settle to the test at Wallace Recreation Reserve.

BOTH Gordon Recreation Reserve and Wallace Recreation Reserve’s netball courts have officially re-opened following improvement works.

Funded through a $250,000 State Government grant, one court at each rec reserve has seen acrylic competition-grade resurfacing, Gordon has received new netball goal posts and padding, and Wallace has a new LED scoreboard ahead of the winter sport season.

Member for Eureka Michaela Settle and Moorabool Shire councillors Moira Berry, Jarrod Bingham and Ally Munari visited both rec reserves on Monday and said the upgrades will benefit more-than 200 netball players with Springbank Football Netball Club and Gordon Football Netball Club, and attract new members.

“Sports like netball are an integral part of community life and we’re proud to invest in projects that get even more people active and on the court,” Ms Settle said.

“The new court surface is a game-changer, and with more people signing up to play local sport, the clubs will no longer have to turn away players due to limited facilities. These upgrades are exactly what Wallace and Gordon netball fans have been waiting for, and I can’t wait to see the impact they will have on the local game.”

The $250,000 State Government grant is also set to cover planning and works at Maddingley Park’s netball facilities.

Moorabool Shire Council delivered the project works.
