As the darkness slowly sank and the lavender-pink sky blended with the dawning blue, the Last Post played on a bugle as Australians stood on their driveways, balconies and verandah’s with candles and torchlight, heads bowed.
The year 2020 will be remembered for many things; the coronavirus pandemic, a shortage of ‘panic buying’ toilet paper but, most importantly ANZAC Day, that the nation embraced and commemorated in silence and solitude.
