PREPARATIONS are underway for this year’s Ballarat Heritage Festival, set for next May, with the official program announced last week.

The 10-day festival will run from May 17 to May 26 and celebrate Ballarat’s stories, heritage and creatives.

Community faces are set to be projected onto trees along Sturt Street and there will be nighttime heritage tours, interactives exhibits and a vintage car show.

Old Gaol Tours, Craft Lab, the Ballarat Antiques Fair and Heritage Harvest weekend at Sovereign Hill will also be on offer.

Ballarat mayor Des Hudson said the festival has become an important part of the City’s calendar of events since its inception in 2006.

“Every year we see the Ballarat Heritage Festival celebrate the historic city’s rich cultural history and this year it is going to be particularly spectacular.

“The program looks as scintillating as ever and I can’t wait to showcase this event that is truly unique to Ballarat.

“With a large range of quality events on offer, there is almost certain to be something that interests everybody.”

The festival is expected to be attended by 25,000 people and add $2 million to the local economy.

The full program is now available on the Ballarat Heritage Festival website.
