A season celebration

Pentland Calisthenics College

The last weekend in October is a big one for the local calisthenics college – Pentland.

They hold both their Presentation Night and Annual Display to close out 2023.

The Presentation Night celebrates each of the team’s achievements. All performers are presented with their medals for the placings they received at their competitions over the year.

A truly amazing year for the Juniors in particular who received a medal for every one of their 24 performances – 20 Gold and 4 Silver – an outstanding achievement.

After presenting the teams with their medals, coaches also announced the winners of their coaches awards.

There are four perpetual trophies/shields awarded across the club, the Ann Jeffrey College Person Memorial Trophy – recognising a parent or individual who has made a significant impact across the college, the Beverley Anton Most Improved Memorial Trophy – recognising the performer who has shown the greatest improvement, the Heather Anton Club Girl Trophy – named after the founder of Pentland and awarded to the performer who is a wonderful leader and role model for team mates and younger performers, the Gayle Stewart Rising Star Award – a new trophy struck this year for a young performer who shows amazing passion for Pentland and all the qualities of a future College Girl or Most Improved winner. Pentland also awards service bars to those members who achieve 5, 10, 15 years of service and beyond – special awards to Sarah Dugdale Porter being awarded Life Membership and also a Distinguished Service Award to long time committee member and Treasurer – Andrea Currie.

A spokesperson for the Club said it was a “wonderful evening of celebration.”
