Athletes heading to state championships
BACCHUS Marsh Little Athletics Centre members have returned from the Western Metro Region Track and Field Championships with 10 gold medals.
The club also took home 10 silver and 10 bronze medals.
In total, 18 little athletes from the club progressed through to the state championships.
The athletes faced cold and windy conditions, and committee member Linda Thompson said they did the club proud.
“The kids did exceptionally well,” Ms Thompson said.
“We compete in the Western Metro region which is a pretty strong region; we’re up against the bigger centres like Geelong, Werribee, Williamstown.
“It’s a good opportunity for those kids to get a gauge of where they’re at heading into the state championships.”

Tomorrow, Saturday 1 March, athletes will be taking to the track for the annual relaython, raising money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal.
Athletes will run a continuous relay from 7am until noon.

“We’re calling on all the community and local businesses to get on board and support our aim,” Ms Thompson said.
“Everybody has been affected at some stage or perhaps had somebody close to them involved with the Royal Children’s Hospital.
“I think it’s important that we all get behind it and give for the kids.”
