FOUR Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre members have returned from the State Combined Event Championships held in Bendigo.

Nyah Halfhide achieved the highest result, coming eighth in the under-11 division and competing along with Tahlia Hunter, Tara Singh and Jye Altay.

Committee member Linda Thompson said the athletes performed well despite hot and stormy conditions.

“They did extremely well considering those conditions,” she said.

“The kids were amazing and their resilience at the competition is a credit to them.”

The event saw each participant compete in a range of disciplines and against children from around the state.

Ms Thompson said it was great to see the athletes have a go at multiple different events.

“It was a good experience for the kids to compete across all those disciplines,” she said.

“It’s great that the kids are prepared to have a go at all disciplines and it’s what we tend to promote within the centre.

“They start off doing five events and as they get older, they do a few more events, so the older kids tend to do it over two days – that’s pretty tough to compete over two days.”
