Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics

Athletes returned to Lady Northcote Camp, Glenmore for Week 12 of their Centre meet.  Although the skies were threatening, mild conditions made for ideal running throughout the campgrounds.  An impressive 27 Personal Best results were recorded this week.

The Under 9 and 10 athletes were first up this week, as athletes contested the 1.5km course.  Iyla Robinson (BM) and Zeke Horne (BM) were clear winners for the Under 10 age group; both athletes recording PBs. Anni Clarke (BM) dominated the Under 9 age group and was rewarded with a PB while Mitchell Tung (BM) produced one of his best races for the season with the win for the Under 9 boys and a PB result. Balreet Mann (Melton), Logan Simons (BM), Ben Wooding (BM) and James White (BM) all recorded their fastest times for the season.

The Open Age athletes, contesting their usual 3km event, saw Alexis Johnston (BM) record a comfortable victory in a PB time of 12:49.19mins ahead of Mackenzie Estlick (BM) also running a PB while Elise Cook (BM) crossed the line next, in 3rd place.  Braydn Rich (BM) ran a PB, as he draws closer to breaking the 17-minute barrier for 3kms.

The Under 6s lined up next for their 500m race. Melton’s Mckinley Wilson was fast off the start line and stamped her dominance on the race, leading from start to finish and recording a PB time of 2:15.16 mins.  Also, running PBs, Hendrix Wake (BM) was next home closely followed by Bowie Clarke (BM).  Annabelle Menzies (BM), Hayden Tung (BM) and Charlie Hoffman (Melton) all recorded outstanding PB times.

The largest field for the day, saw the Under 7 & 8 athletes contest a 1km loop. Melton’s Harry Wark ran another outstanding race, taking line honours with a PB time of 4:12.28 mins, with Emilia Ibrahim (BM) and Fletcher Reid (Melton) claiming the minor placings.  Exceptional runs from Archie Clarke (BM), Rylee Robinson (BM), Divgett Mann (Melton) and Olivia Callister (Gisborne) saw them rewarded with PB’s.

To close out the meet, the Under 11 and 12 athletes contested the 2km course.  Bacchus Marsh’s Lachlan Simons set the early pace, going through the first kilometre with a narrow lead ahead of teammate Dushan Baniluk.  Meanwhile, Mataya Leetham (Melton) led the way for the girls, just ahead of Bacchus Marsh’s Myah Estlick.  A sprint to the finish line saw Dushan declared the eventual winner, just one second ahead of Lachlan – both boys recording PBs.  Meanwhile, Mataya held on to her lead and claimed the win for the girls ahead of Myah – both girls also notching up PB results.  Chord Wilson (Melton), continues to improve and this week was rewarded with another PB performance.

Next Saturday, athletes will travel to Ballan to compete in their events at the Bostock Reservoir.  Athletes will warm up/walk the course at 10.15am, first event 10.30am.
