Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics
The Centre held an Official Opening for the 2023/24 season last Saturday morning at Masons Lane Reserve. Centre President, Brett Edwards welcomed all members, Life Members, Distinguished Service members and special guests prior to declaring the season officially open. The newly elected 2023/24 Captains, Emma Stewart and Sam White were announced. Both athletes have been involved with the Centre for over 10 years and are regular representatives of the Centre at Region and State events. Once the announcements were completed, weekly competition then commenced with almost 200 athletes competing in running, hurdling, throwing and jumping events.
Two new Centre records were set for the morning’s competition. Anni Clarke (Dolphins) threw the Discus 21.74 metres setting a new Girls Under 11 Discus record. Sam White (Blues) then broke the Under 17 110m Hurdles record in a new time of 21.46 secs.
Training seasons will be held every Thursday. Under 6-9 athletes will train at 4.30pm and Under 10-17 athletes will commence training at 5.15pm.
Registration numbers continue to grow with the Centre still welcoming registrations and a two-week trial offer for new athletes aged from 5-16 years.
