The Centre held their third week of competition for the season last Saturday morning at Masons Lane Reserve. As the athletes begin to repeat their events, an impressive 439 personal best (PB) results were recorded.
A spokesperson for the club said it was “great to see the improvements in such a short period of time”.
The PB Stars of the Week were awarded to Aubreigh Wake, Aria Pontelandolfo, Jack Ainsworth, Harvey Whitney, Blaithe Fletcher, Saativak Dwarampudi, Hunter Robinson, Zac Degnen and Zeke Horne.
Seven Centre records were also broken at the meet. Under 16 athlete, Mackenzie Estlick (Dolphins) set new records in the 300m hurdles and 200m sprint. Mackenzie ran the 300m hurdles in a time of 49.09 secs while she stopped the clock in 28.21 seconds for the 200 metres.
Emma Stewart (Blues) set three new records in the Under 17 300m Hurdles, High Jump and 400m while team-mate Sam White (Blues), recorded new record times in the Under 17 300m hurdles and 400m. With the recent introduction of the Under 17 age group, these records are set to tumble throughout the season.
The first training session was held last Thursday afternoon for all registered athletes. New Under 14 athlete, James Pringle (Blues) was awarded the Trainer of the Week award.
The Centre is still accepting registrations for all interested 5-16 year olds. A free 2-week trial offer is available for new athletes. Contact the Centre for further information.
