THE CENTRE weekly track & field competition was held at Masons Lane Reserve on Saturday morning.

Athletes produced some magnificent results across many disciplines. Centre Captain, Sam White led the way, setting 2 new Centre records for the meet.

The first record was set in the Under 17 Javelin, where Sam launched the spear to a new record distance of 32.51 metres, while across at the jump pits, Mackenzie Estlick leapt to a new Under 16 Long Jump distance of 4.99 metres.

Late in the program Sam ran in the open boys 800m and lead from start to finish, to cross the finish line in a new Under 17 record time of 2:30.01 mins.

Darley Bakehouse PB Stars of the Week were awarded to Heidi Havran, Sam White, Charlie Coon and Eddie Caine, who all recorded 4 PB’s for the meet.

Prior to events commencing the Centre invited all athletes, family and friends to walk a lap of the track to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal. The Centre raised $416.85 through donations.

The Centre will conduct a Twilight meet this Friday evening commencing at 5pm. 21 athletes will represent the Centre over the weekend at the State Track & Field Championship to be held at Knox Athletics Centre.
