Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics
The Community Bank Bacchus Marsh – Bendigo Bank Gift was held prior to competition commencing on Saturday morning.
The fastest girls and boys from the Under 7 to Under 16 age groups competed in a handicap 100m events.
Athletes and supporters lined the front straight, as they cheered on their club/age group representatives.
In a very close finish, a dead heat was declared in the girls’ race. Under 16 athlete Mackenzie Estlick running from the backmark crossed the line first, as did Under 12 athlete Halo Arahanga.
The Boys event was also a close finish with only .47 seconds separating all boys. It was Under 16 athlete Alex Lloyd who flew home to claim the Boys Gift victory.
The winners were presented with a shield and a $50 Bendigo Bank account while 1st, 2nd and 3rd were also presented with sashes by the Community Bank manager, Ian Prince.
All competitors were then presented with certificates of participation.

GIRLS
1st Mackenzie Estlick U16 & Halo Arahanga U12, 2nd Tara Singh U9, 3rd Lucy Phyland-McClure U14, 4th Skyla Berryman U11, 5th Mya Berryman U10, 6th Blaithe Fletcher U8, 7th Myah Estlick U13, 8th Penelope Mallard U7.
Once the gift was run, the weekly competition commenced. With the track in top condition, athletes are recording some great times on the track while athletes in the field continue to improve every week.
Mackenzie Estlick broke yet another Centre record, bettering her own Under 16 300m hurdles record with a new time of 49.06 secs.
Alexis Farrell, also improved on her own Under 11 Shot Put record, breaking the 11-metre mark, with a new record distance of 11.05 metres.
This Saturday the Centre Championship Day will be held at Masons Lane Reserve. All competing athletes must register their attendance with their team manager by 8.15am.
Athletes who fail to register will be deemed absent and scratched from all events. For safety reasons the side gate in Masons Lane will be closed during the day, please enter via the main gate on Young Street.
Athletes must be in full Club uniform – Club polo shirt and plain black shorts and Commonwealth Bank registration tags must be worn.
Championship events will conclude at approximately 2.30pm.
Athletes from all Clubs will then come together for the official Centre end of season presentations. These presentations will take approximately an hour.
At the conclusion of presentations, athletes will then disperse to their Club area for Club presentations which should take approximately half an hour.
