Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics
LADY Northcote Camp in Rowsley was the scene for week four of the Centre Cross Country competition.
This week we had a record number of 100 participants complete their allocated courses.
The day commenced with athletes walking part of the course prior to participating in a dance warm-up routine conducted by one of our parents, Emilia. This added activity set the scene for another magnificent day, enjoyed by everyone who attended.
The Under 7 and 8 athletes were first to compete and a large field of 40 runners tackled the one-kilometre course. Always a spectacular race to witness, this week did not disappoint, while athletes strived to improve on their previous times.
Under 7 athlete Jordy Fenwick, running another PB this week, was the overall winner for Bacchus Marsh. Angus Jacobsen was the first Under 8 athlete across the finish line. Milly Johansen, Under 7, and Olive Blokland, Under 8, were the Girls age group winners. Eykas Khaira, Oliver Dalton, Scarlett Tatchell, Victoria Hannam and Paige Foley all recorded PBs, as did Meeka Booth who notched up her third consecutive PB.
The Under 9 and 10 athletes completed a 1500m course of the campgrounds. Once again, Harry Johansen and Emilia Ibrahim led the way for the Under 10s while George Jacobsen took the win for the Under 9 boys.
Rylee Robinson claimed back-to-back wins the in Girls Under 9 age group. Fifteen athletes recorded PBs for the event. A special effort from Cody Medcraft, as he took two nasty falls in the later stages of the race, but his determination saw him eventually cross the finish line, albeit a little bruised and sore.
Congratulations to the following athletes who all recorded PBs this week: Harry Johansen, Emilia Ibrahim, George Jacobsen, Atlas Ferreira, Freddy Carroll, Rylee Robinson, Harbin Kaur Aujla, Kobi Hehir, Tara Singh, Lachlan Simcocks, Sam Ainsworth, Oliver Coon, Emmy Foley, Heidi Havran and Cody Medcraft.
A fast start from our Under 6s before the long slow uphill grind saw the field strung out. Strong finishes from Mannat Kaur Deol saw her claim the win for Bacchus Marsh while Angad Aujla was the first boy home.
The open age athletes completed the three-kilometre event with consecutive wins going to Sam White, stopping the clock in a time of 10.09.62 mins. PBs were recorded by Sam White, Nicholas Ibrahim, Dushan Baniluk, Deegan Doyle, Elise Holland, Thomas Ibrahim, Lily Noman, Mathilde Grant, and Mehek Sidhu.
The final race saw the Under 11 and 12 athletes complete two laps of the one-kilometre course. Joshua Askew kept his winning streak alive with a PB of 7.55.25 mins while Zeke Horne also recorded a PB of 8.01.16 mins. Iyla Robinson was declared the Under 12 Girls winner and Ruhi Sidhu took the win for the Girls Under 11s. Kyra Booth recorded her second consecutive PB for the season.
