Sunday cricket last weekend saw Ballan taking one of the toughest road trips in the division, against last year’s premiers Burrembeet.

Ballan, from the outset were on the front foot with Kobe Heafield bowling absolutely brilliantly up front with the new ball snagging himself three wickets. He was assisted well by Hayden Micallef, Brady Naeff and Eli Muir who regularly took wickets in what was amazing spells of bowling from all bowlers, with Burrembeet having no answers to the bowling and were dismissed for 46.

Jack McGregor also was incredible, taking six catches behind the wickets.

With the bat, Ballan had the tricky target of 46 to chase and this started brilliantly by Heath Doherty and Mark Kennedy who took the game away from Burrembeet in the early stages of the chase.

Doherty was dismissed but batted brilliantly and the chase was ended by Jack and Mark in what was a comprehensive nine wicket win for ballan

Abandoned due to weather

Under 15
Ballan v Coronet City
Abandoned after 19 overs

It wasn’t the ideal start having the match abandoned after steady drizzle persisted. Ballan fielded and had Coronet City 1/95 after 19 overs.

Special mention to Eddie Bayard getting his first wicket, Jackson Letcher for a lovely opening spell and a nice catch, and Tyler Bruning playing his first match.

Under 17
Brown Hill/Ballan 6/111 drew Bacchus Marsh 4/111

Batting – Jack Jarvis 41 no retired, Josh Singh 20
Bowling – Jack Jarvis 4-0-0-13, Sarah Burton 4-0-1-27

Whilst unable to field a full team of U/17s, Ballan players Josh Singh, James Burton, Jack Jarvis, Sarah Burton and Jai Singh, were kindly received into Brown Hill’s team.

Ballan batted first, with Josh Singh (20) and Jack Jarvis (41 retired off 21 balls) got the team off to a great and fast start, helping contribute to a very good total.

Bacchus Marsh gave it a good run but with Jack Jarvis following up with a fierce spell of tidy bowling (0/13 off 4) and Sarah with the wicket to break their good opening partnership, helped keep them in the game and come away with a draw.
