Golden Point won the toss and elected to bowl on what looked like a decent wicket at Eastern Oval. Mark was very unlucky with his early dismissal, but the innings was kicked off well by Jack and Lachie before Lachie fell to bring brother Michael to the crease. Jack and Michael were brilliant taking the attack to the bowlers and putting ballan onto the front foot.

Jack eventually fell for a very well made 48 in what was easily his best innings for the season.

Michael kicked on from there and was simply brilliant through the middle overs despite losing wickets at the other end. David Gardiner came to the wicket and really attacked with Ballan in a vulnerable position, and it paid off, with him and Mike putting on a great partnership to get Ballan up towards 200.

Michael was edging towards 100 but wickets continued to fall, eventually he passed 100 with great mate Mason Currie at the other end in what was a great moment for all there to see. A great result for Mike who was absolutely brilliant through the day and really deserved to bring up the milestone.

Ballan ultimately dismissed for 241 and had to bowl a further 13 overs at Point to finish the day.

Ballan openers attacked from the start with Lachie Snaith and Brady Naeff really putting pressure on the batsman.  Both picked up 1 wicket each in their allotted overs to see Ballan have Golden Point 2-30 at the close of play.

A great result for the boys going into week 2 of the match this weekend. A win will see us finals bound!
