Week 2: Ballan 241 def Golden Point 79 and 5-102

Bowling, Innings 1 – Lachie Snaith 16.5-5-6-27, Jack Jarvis 7-2-3-24

Innings 2 – Lachie Snaith 11-0-3-28, Jack Jarvis 9-0-2-18, Ryan Lister 8-0-0-8

Ballan arrived at the Eastern Oval requiring another 8 wickets to complete the win and give themselves a chance at playing finals.

Jack Jarvis and Lachy Snaith were given the ball early on and they were both absolutely brilliant,  hitting their lines and lengths, they made batting virtually impossible.

Jack was fantastic bowling with real pace and troubling the bats throughout his spell picking up 3 wickets.

But yet again it was Lachie Snaith who was the pick of the bowlers, and has continued his excellent run of form with the ball, snagging 6 wickets yet again.

Eli Muir, Ryan Lister and David Gardiner were also valuable with the ball through the innings, but it was the 2 openers that got all the spoils. Golden Point couldn’t handle the pressure being dismissed for 79.

Ballan had the decision to send Point back in and try for a outright victory which started well again by Jack and Lachie.

Early wickets fell, putting Ballan into a good position, but some good batting from Point made it difficult.

Throughout the afternoon, Ballan battled away and were always every chance of taking wickets.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, with Ballan only managing taking 5 wickets in the second dig. A massive congratulations to Lachie Snaith who finished the day with 9 wickets across both innings.

An absolutely outstanding result for the team who have now clinched a finals spot finishing in 4th.
