Semi Final BCA Second Grade, Div 1

Dunnstown vs Ballan at Alfredton Rec Reserve.

Ballan 258 def Dunnstown 142

Batting – Lachie Snaith 67, David Gardiner 46, Jack McGregor 45, Ryan Lister 37

Bowling – Hayden Micallef: 18.5-7-7-31, Lachie Snaith: 19-7-2-36

Skipper, Hayden Micallef, won the toss and decided to bat.

Bit of a green top, openers Mark Kennedy and Jack McGregor battled to set a platform, reaching a good partnership of 68 before Mark (29) snicked off.

Jack (45) fell shortly after another good partnership with Lachie Snaith (67), who batted with great patience, forming very handy partnerships with Mike Snaith (8), and Ryan Lister (37) who batted extremely well also.

After Lachie was dismissed, David Gardiner(46) continued his streak of form, although wickets fell relatively quick at the other end, losing Hayden, Param Singh and Brady Naeff for not many, David was able to keep the scoreboard ticking over, especially, with a very handy innings from Daniel Pascoe(15).

David was finally caught out, Matt Shugg not out at the other end, but not without bringing the total up to what felt like an above par 258 off 74 overs.

Dunnstown started their innings well, although it felt like luck was on their side, they edged and scratched their way to 63 without loss.

Opening bowlers Lach and Brady bowled very tight without reward, and at drinks it felt like it was just about to turn.

Hayden then took the ball and, in a flash, there were 4 wickets. Using the conditions, and fielders backing up their skipper, including a run out by Eli Muir for the ages, Dos bowled what can only be described as a true captain’s spell.

Picking up 7 wickets and powering through 18.5 overs on a crazy hot day, he took hold of the opposition and choked them of runs, and forced error after error. Unbelievable effort.

Lach doing what he does contributed with two for himself.

Huge thanks to Param and Matt for coming up from the 2s and being a part of this one!

Ballan has stormed their way into a Grand Final, bowling Dunnstown out for 142.

Under 11s

Ballan Blue Bushwhackers 5/82 v Ballan White Wallabies 3/53

Our game started with Ballan Wallabies winning the bat flip and decided to send the Ballan Bushwackers in to bat first, from the very first ball to the last ball of the match, all the kids skills were on full display with both teams playing extremely well.

There was a lot of encouragement for each other’s team members and opposition players!

The game was played in a great spirit and all players gave their very best!

Was really pleasing to see all of the hard work throughout the season by everyone has all come together!

A massive pat on the back to all young players and volunteers that have made it a very special season with one week to go!

A huge thank you to Chris Thom for the photography tonight and big thankyou to Kori and Mabel for scoring, thank you to all parents that helped with getting kids ready for play and cooking and cleaning for tonight’s BBQ.

Was really pleasing to see the next generation of young cricketers having a great time!
