NYAH from Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Club has represented the Western Metro Region at the Little Athletics Victoria 60 years region challenge.

The event brought together selected under 10 to under 17 athletes in a team’s competition format.

Held at Duncan McKinnon Reserve Murrumbeena last month, each athlete was awarded points which went towards the region’s total.

Nyah was chosen based on her results from last season.

“It was a challenge between the seven regions within the state so two athletes from each age group were selected from within each region,” said committee member Linda Thompson

“We were very proud of Nyah being selected; it was a great achievement to be our representative from the centre.”

Club members Avery and Henry competed in the 60-year open day which was held at the same time.

The event was an open invitation to under nine to under 17 athletes

Ms Thompson said the events provided great experience for the club’s athletes.

“It gives our children, especially from a small centre, the opportunity to compete against athletes from across the state,” she said.

“It also gives our children the opportunity to compete on a synthetic track because we run on a grass track.”

The club is open to new members and a two-week free trial period is available. More information can be found on the Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Club website.
