Get ready for the Colliers Ballarat Cup at the Yaloak Polo Club

THE Colliers Ballarat Cup will take place on Sunday 9 February from 11am.

It is held annually at the Yaloak Polo Club – initially the brain child of a well-known and respected ex-player John Taylor, who donated the cup.

Teams are from all over Victoria, some from South Australia with some of the top players competing. Polo is a very exciting sport, gets into your blood, is very addictive and a complete adrenaline rush.

The main game of the day will be competing for the Ballarat Cup which is well sort after. Some very distinguished players have won the cup in the past.

There will be a celebrity chukka with some of the top trainers and jockeys competing, as well as some well known celebrities.

A Grooms race will see grooms get up out of their swags, completely tack up the horse for a game of polo, jump on the horse and race to the end of the field. A polo pony will race against a Porsche car and a motor bike.

The Best Dressed Competition will have Lady, Gent and child categories, and an auction will be held at the end of the day with some very good bargains to be had. There are pony rides for the kids, a jumping castle, as well as fast paced games starting at 11am.

It is a family day out with either pre-purchased, fully catered marquees, BYO field side pre-purchased car parks or BYO general admission. $20 per car paid at the gate.

Yaloak Polo Club has been running for 43 years and was owned and instigated by Peter Yunghanns.

The club was previously run by Pat Macginley for eight years and for the past 35 years by Greg and Janis Keyte.
