Veteran Coimadai trainer/driver Graeme Whittle brought up a hat-trick with 6YO Majestic Son-Melpark Sunrise mare Amunet by taking the Hip Pocket Castlemaine Trotters Mobile over 2180 metres at Kilmore on Thursday 27 April. A winner of a Maryborough heat and final affair earlier in the month, Amunet (gate four) led virtually throughout to win in a breeze from Montane Chevelle which raced outside her, with old timer Mystic Chip (one/one) third. The margins 9.5 metres by a neck in a mile rate of 2-04.7.
Rockbank owner/trainer John McCullagh’s 3YO Yankee Rockstar-Mear Princess filly Chermear Princess upstaged her older rivals to capture the 2150 metre Gold Central Victoria Pace restricted to concessional drivers at Bendigo on Friday 28 April in a rate of 1-59.9. With Luke Dunn in the sulky, Chermear Princess starting inside the second line pushed through at the start to follow the polemarker Caribbean Magic which led easily. When the leader capitulated approaching the final bend, Chermear Princess was extricated away from the markers to join Partyatthebeach (gate two) which had raced exposed with the pair racing clear of their rivals. Finishing strongly, Chermear Princess scored by seven metres from Barack Enobrac (three pegs) which followed the winner everywhere, with Luella (one/two – four wide home turn) third a head away.
