Home final for United women
WESTERN United Football Club’s women’s side are preparing for a Liberty A-League season home final.
The game against the Newcastle Jets tomorrow, Saturday 13 April, will be the United women’s first-ever home final in Tarneit.
The team comes off a one-all draw against the Central Coast Mariners when Kiara De Domizio kicked her first professional goal.
“I was on cloud nine,” she said. “It was the best feeling after I’d been working towards that all season.
“Leading up to [the Mariners game]… the talk within the team was that everyone needs to step up and I came forward and said I’m willing to contribute.
“It’s now or never for us, we really need to see this through to the end and I think as a squad we really have that fight and grit. That’s what helps us get through those tough moments.
“We could take it all the way. We have the right mentality.”
Teammate Catherine Zimmerman has had time off the field and said she is back to full fitness.
Zimmerman brings A-League finals experience to the contest this weekend and said there’s a finals buzz around the club.
“The girls have done so well all season, I’m super proud of them,” she said.
“I’ve been fortunate to be in a lot of finals series… and these girls were there last season, so they know what it takes to get there too. The biggest thing for me is that no game is easy.
“Every game counts, tomorrow isn’t promised, so we have that vibe that we want to do our best every single day because we don’t know when it’s going to be our last.
“That’s how we’ll get out on top and keep winning until we get to the grand final hopefully.”
The women’s final will be after an Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s match against Central Coast Mariners at Tarneit.
