It’s final, venues announced
The business end of the football and netball season is approaching, and the finals venues have been announced, kicking off with Women’s football.
Shane Anwyl is the Ballarat FNL General Manager and said they were excited to announce the venues for the 2022 season.
“With finals not being held since 2019, excitement is building towards a finals series that will see grand finals being played at Mars Stadium in Ballarat.”
Mr Anwyl said three finals series will be held over four weeks, each commencing with BFL Women’s from Sunday 14th August through to the grand final at Mars Stadium on Saturday 3rd September.
Bacchus Marsh and Darley grounds have been ruled out for a final’s venue, for good reason.
“Darley is not suitable at present due to the works being undertaken and Bacchus Marsh does not have the ability to be “locked up”. Finals generate a significant income for the league and therefore requires a secure venue,” Mr Anwyl told the Moorabool News.
A competitive senior football and netball finals series will commence Saturday 27th August and culminate with the grand final at Mars Stadium on Saturday 17th September.
Highlights of the final’s series include:
- 21 finals events across six weeks
- Seven different finals venues in Ballarat and Melton
- Macpherson Park, Melton to host finals for the first time in 2022
- 189 games of finals football and netball
- The first ever BFLW finals series
- In excess of 50,000 people to attend across all competitions during the final’s series.
Junior football and netball will kick off one week later on Saturday 20th August, with the grand final again at Mars Stadium on Sunday 11th September.
