The Ballarat Cricket Association held its Junior Presentation last Wednesday, and the Darley Cricket Club has batted above its average, with promising young talents awarded.

The Junior Presentation was held at the Wendouree Cricket Club at 6.30 pm, with four Lions featuring prominently in the awards ceremony.

Rockey Hoey won the U17 2nd XI Best Player Award, with 9 votes compared to 8 for Coronet City’s Jake Roberts, and 6 votes for both Charlie Walton from Buninyong and Noah Davies from Coronet City.

Hoey also took out the Batting Award, with 221 runs at an average of 73.67.

Fellow U17 2nd XI player Axel Morton came third in the Best Player Award with 4 votes, and third in the batting with 157 runs at an average of 52.33.

George Martindale won Player of the Series for his efforts in the BCA U13 Representative Team, and was also second in his grade’s bowling, with 8 wickets at a strike rate of 14.13.

U17 2nd XI player Patrick Jarvinen finished third in the bowling tally, with 7 wickets at a strike rate of 16.43.

The awards were no doubt a confidence boost for the Lions’ Under 17s, as they prepared to face Golden Point in a semi-final at Brown Hill last Saturday and Sunday 19 – 20 March.
