THE 2024/25 Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Track and Field season commenced on Saturday morning at Masons Lane Reserve.

Over 170 children have already registered for the season with another 75 athletes taking up the two-week free trial offer. The athletes enjoyed being back catching up with friends and competing in running, throwing and jumping events.

Five new Centre records were set for the meet. Mackenzie Estlick broke 3 records. The first in the Girls Under 17 High Jump where she leapt to a new record height of 1.45 metres. Then a blitzing 100m run saw her set a new time of 12.38 sec. Mackenzie then ran a new record time of 26.32 secs for the 200m. Alexis Farrell broke a 36 year old record in the Girls Under 12 Shot Put throwing a massive distance of 11.56 metres. Alex Lloyd set a new Under 17 100m record, running a time of 13.80 secs.

Lucy Hackett won the Early Bird Registration draw having her registration fee refunded. The Fergusson Plarre’s Bakehouse Volunteer of the Week was awarded to Michael De Mieri.

Centre training commences this Thursday from 4.30-5.15pm for the Under 6-8 athletes and 5.15-6pm for the Under 9-17 age groups. Financial and registered trial athletes are only permitted to participate in training sessions.

Next Saturday will be program 2 commencing at 8.30am. The Centre will announce their 2024/25 Centre Captains and officially open the season. All Life Members, Distinguished Service Members and sponsors are invited to attend.
