One in the books for Daylesford Speedway
The Daylesford Speedway Association finally held its first meeting of the season as the weather played nice for three quarters of the day, allowing competitors to get in their qualifying races as a minimum before rain interfered during the finals.
Confirmation of the results are as follows.
In Daylesford Street Stocks, after finishing second the previous evening in Avalon, Tim Hutchinson defeated Rhys Meakins, David Clark, Anthony Bull, and Jamie Angwin.
Richelle Warlond won the Daylesford Ladies Sedans defeating Jane Laidler, Vicki Alford, and Shelby Higginbottom. Warlond finishing ahead of Laidler is a great result, as Jane has been one of the top three Ladies at Daylesford for many seasons.
Trevor Crilly from the Bendigo area finished as the top Standard Saloon competitor. Bailey Sinclair of Ballarat finished second whilst Daylesford registered racer Dean Pederson was third in front of Lachie Chivers and Nigel Frew all the way from Bairnsdale.
Daniel Carter continued his great runs as a Modified racer with another win, finishing on top of Brett Carrington, then came teammates Ryan Daly, Ian Bartlett, and Wade Justice in fifth.
Daylesford Junior Sedans competition delivered lots of improvement from the home-grown future stars, with Jhett Cruise the top driver on the day. Blaize Majok-Edwards and Blair Botheras were the top three, with Peyton Edwards-Daly and Ben Carrington rounding out the top five.
Club sponsor Dean Miller made special mention of Noah Basten who on debut looks to have a future.
Victorian Speedway Council Junior Open Sedans visited the Basin also, and Connor Claridge of Bendigo defeated Jordyn Tewkesbury and Jack Randall, Ballarat driver Levi Blake, and Kalani Garlick.
Rounding out the day’s results was the Junior 1200 Sedans, taking advantage of another opportunity to compete on the venue that will host the Victorian title after Christmas. Daylesford member Arthur Hutchinson finished the day as the winner in front of Xander Baxter, Bryce Leek, Dayne Murdoch and Holly Hutchinson.
Daylesford Speedway Association is now scheduled for a February 11 return to racing.
