THE BACCHUS Marsh Basketball Association has been honoured with Basketball Victoria’s Medium Association Referee Program of the Year award for 2023.

This accolade recognises BMBA’s exceptional achievements in referee development, comprehensive training programs, and outstanding community engagement.

The BMBA’s success is attributed to its robust development activities that have not only enhanced the skills of their referees but also significantly contributed to the local community.

The BMBA committee expressed their pride in the program, highlighting that it provides vital employment opportunities for members and local youth.

More importantly, the program fosters confidence and competence, teaching young people to make decisive calls under high-pressure situations.

“We are proud to have some very experienced referees as part of our team who continue to develop our new officials,” a BMBA spokesperson said.

“Their dedication and expertise are invaluable in shaping the next generation of referees.”

The association’s commitment to excellence is reflected in its continuous efforts to expand the training program. This dedication ensures that more individuals are encouraged to don the black and white stripes, contributing to the vibrant basketball community in Bacchus Marsh.

The BMBA’s referee program is not just about officiating games; it is about building a foundation of leadership, decision-making, and resilience.

The association’s proactive approach in developing referees has been pivotal in maintaining the strong and growing competition in Bacchus Marsh.

As the BMBA looks forward to the future, they remain committed to enhancing their referee training initiatives and welcoming more aspiring referees to their ranks.
