Home game: Mack bowling his first maiden over. Photos: CHRIS THOM

WEDNESDAY night saw Ballan’s U11 team play their first home game for the season.

Batting first, Micah and Lachie opened up against some tough bowling but found their way through.

Mack in at first drop was the same but finished with some nice shots and runs.

Ted in next made some headway and a nice couple of runs, followed by the double-Z combo Zariah and Zane with great calling in the middle.

Wicketkeeper Micah.

Will was next and faced some tough bowling as well and finished his stint well with the bat.

Marshal and Clarky finished the innings with a nice partnership and flowing runs, with Marshal hitting a couple of fours.

Bowling had the same lineup as the bat, so Micah opened and made nice headway with some nice straight bowling in his second over.

Marshall with his great hitting.

Lachie snagged the first wicket and was very tidy, Mack bowled his first maiden of the season with fast straight bowling, and Ted was similar to Micah with his second over, being the pick of them with straight bowling.

Zariah was unlucky with a lot of balls going past the wicket and Zane was the same but snagged a deserved wicket.

Will, as well, was unlucky, barely missing the stumps on a few occasions with Marshal and Clarky finishing the bowling innings with some great straight bowling.

Brother and sister, Zariah and Zane batting together.

Wicketkeepers Micah and Lachie did great, with not many getting past.

Awards go to Marshal for his great hitting and Ted with nothing getting past him.

The kids are bringing enthusiasm and energy, with already a lot of improvement made. We can’t wait to see how they are at the end of the season .
