Ballan’s 1st XI Captain, Michael Snaith has received the highest Ballarat Cricket Association award for the 2nd Grade competition.
Michael picked up the ‘Bernie Davey Medal’ at the Association Awards night held last Wednesday at the Ballarat Golf Club.
He follows previous club winners of the Medal including, from most recent, Cam Dunne, Noel Heafield, and Chris Mullane (dual winner).
Michael won the prestigious award convincingly with 24-votes, voted by the BCA Umpires at the games. His nearest rival was Russell Sharp from Buninyong on 12-votes followed by Justin Murley from Coronet City with 11-votes.
Ballan’s Ben Loughnane polled 9 votes to finish a credible 8th place.
Michael not only won the Bernie Davey Medal but also took out the 2nd Grade Champion Player with 834 points. These points are worked out from the individual player’s season statistics; wickets, runs, catches & run-outs.
Michael’s season ended up with 327 runs off the bat with an average of 25.15, and bowling figures of 36 wickets at an average of 7.08. He also took four catches and assisted with two run-outs.
