A NEW season of track and field is set to explode out of the starting blocks for Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics.

Pitched at five to 16-year-olds, the season starts on Saturday 4 October and will run right through to March next year, concluding with Centre Championship Day on Saturday 21 March.

Next Saturday’s start to the season features a come and try session for new athletes, with the season ahead offering plenty for young promising athletes to target including events and competitions at club, centre, region and state levels.

“Centre meets are held on Saturday mornings at Masons Lane Reserve commencing at 8.30am,” Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre records and ranking officer Linda Thompson said. “We do run a couple of Friday twilight meets prior to the region and state events.”

Highlights on the season’s calendar include region and state relays, region and state level track and field championships, and the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal Relaython.

The season culminates with the Centre Championships.

“We’ve had a magnificent response to our new sponsorship packages with a large number of businesses jumping on board again this season,” Ms Thompson said.

“Our registration page on the website has a lot of information for new families including a FAQ section which is most helpful for new members.

“We offer a two week free trial offer to new members.”
