Two huge sedan events headline Redline Raceway

Tonight at Redline Raceway at Mount Buninyong, the Street Stocks and the Modified Sedans headline the show with each category in two important sedan events, the King of the Mount for the Street Stocks and the Victorian Modified Promotional Association series round for the Modified Sedans.

Both classes of Sedans are popular right around Australia, and fans follow them around to venues to watch big events.

In Street Stock competition the state champion Matt Nelson headlines a list that includes a handy list of drivers with a shot at taking the ‘King of the Mount’ victory. Redline members Dean Jenkins, Scott Secombe, Mick Dann, Jason Degoldi, Scott and Mark Purdie and Scott Whittle amongst them and all of them serious front of the field contenders in any race around Victoria.

From outside of the local member driver’s competitor such as Dale Morrison, Shaun Henry, Jayden Blomeley, and Rhys Meakins are just some of the entrants that will seek to upset the local fans with a victory of their own.

Modified Sedan competition for points in the state wide Victorian Modified Promotional Association series has attracted a strong field that includes the current Australian champion Brock Atkins from Hamilton and Redline member Kye Walters who is currently the Victorian champion. The two champions will be competing against a field that includes from the Ballarat and surrounding area John Baker Jnr, Darcy Wilson, Darren Cockerill, Dylan Barrow, Bella Rizzoli, and Chris Whatmore.

Other competitors within the class that are sure to amongst those battling for victory include Wade McCarthy from Mildura, Brad Wicks from Bendigo, Daniel Simpson from Horsham, Graham West from Bendigo, and Matt Nelson doing double duty on race night along with the Street Stock feature field he is entered in.

Standard Saloon competitors will also compete a week after their state title in Wangaratta. Craig Templeton a former state champion represents the Redline club against many drivers from the Ballarat club. Austin Chivers, Sean Oakes-Rogers, Patrick Walsh, Lachie Chivers, Bailey Sinclair who qualified for last weekend’s title race are just some of the entrants keen for a win this weekend. Aaron Meakins another driver to qualify for the state title feature race is also competing and should be tough to beat.

The Hot Rods return with the Speedway Drivers Association of Victoria members competing in their mostly V8 open wheel machines. Shannon Meakins is very difficult to beat in the class however the likes of Eddie Ivermee, Brendan Roberts and Russell Hovey keep popping up on podiums and can all win on the right night.

Racing begins at 4:00pm finishing at 10:30 at 569 Yankee Flat Road Buninyong. Adult Tickets are $30 each with Children aged from 6 to 16 at $7 and aged and invalid pensioners $25. A family ticket will cost $65 for two adults and three children whilst any child aged five and under are free.
