{"id":10239,"date":"2022-06-07T08:00:59","date_gmt":"2022-06-06T22:00:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=10239"},"modified":"2024-02-03T05:08:11","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T18:08:11","slug":"the-show-will-go-on-finally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/the-show-will-go-on-finally\/","title":{"rendered":"The show will go on, finally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A long-awaited art show is finally going ahead over the Queen\u2019s Birthday long weekend, and will finally be able to celebrate its 50th anniversary, with over 500 pieces of art on display.<br \/>\nThe Rotary Club of Bacchus Marsh has tried three times over the past two years to hold its 50th Anniversary Art Show and Sale, with COVID outbreaks forcing the event to be postponed each time.<br \/>\nBut the Show is finally going ahead, and will be open in the Bacchus Marsh Public Hall from Saturday 11 June until Monday 13 June.<br \/>\nThe Show has a long and proud history, providing a showcase for the incredible talent of both local and interstate artists, and being one of the major social and artistic events on the calendar in Bacchus Marsh.<br \/>\nThe Bacchus Marsh Art Show is one of the longest-running art shows in Australia, let alone regional Victoria, and to commemorate this, the Show will feature displays of historical items tracking the changes over the years.<br \/>\n\u201cThe Bacchus Marsh Art Show is a major fundraiser for the Rotary Club, with all proceeds being distributed to organisations and programs in the local area as well as internationally,\u201d Peter Kay said.<br \/>\n\u201cThere will be a variety of artwork for sale on the day, from oils, watercolours, acrylics, sculptures, wood, wool, photography, and more.\u201d<br \/>\nThe Rotary Club invites the whole community to come down and view the amazing exhibits, and enjoy the calm ambience of the Show.<br \/>\nThe number of artworks has been slightly restricted to allow the wonderful artists from the last cancelled Show in September 2021 to roll over their works. The event will now feature between 530 and 550 works, with prices ranging from $30 to $7,500.<br \/>\nFor such a special occasion, this year only, there will be a \u2018Best in Show\u2019 prize sponsored by Diana Gibson, as well as other prizes for Best Oil Painting, Best Watercolour, Best Any Other Media, Best Photograph, Best Painting by a Local Artist, Best 21 Years or Younger, Best Local Content, Best Small Painting, and the Grow West Acquisitive Prize.<br \/>\nIn total, $12,700 in prize money will be awarded. The Judge will be Beckett Rozenthals from the National Gallery of Victoria, who was also the Judge at the 2014 Show.<br \/>\nMoorabool Shire Mayor Cr Tom Sullivan will also select his choice for the Moorabool Shire Acquisition.<br \/>\nDue to ongoing pandemic caution, there will not be the usual Gala Opening on Friday night.
