Two brand new skate parks are due to be completed by the end of September, and Moorabool Council is urging eager skateboarders to wait for the projects\u2019 completion to use the parks.<\/p>\n
The skate parks at Gordon Public Park and Mill Park (Ballan) have been completed, but both spaces also include 3x3m basketball practice courts, which have not yet been finished.<\/p>\n
Mill Park also requires some landscaping work before it will be ready for use.<\/p>\n
Skate park specialists CONVIC, who have been contracted to complete the new spaces, have reported that despite temporary fencing being erected around the construction sites, some community members have accessed the site and used the infrastructure that has been installed so far.<\/p>\n
Moorabool Shire Council CEO Derek Madden while no damage has occurred on the sites to date, \u201cour preference is that the skate parks remain closed until the projects have fully been completed,\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s not long to go until they\u2019ll be ready for action. If the community can wait until all work is completed on site and the parks officially and safely open before they are used, we would be very grateful,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The new skate space at Mill Park will replace the older skate park at the Ballan Recreation Reserve, which will be removed in the coming months.<\/p>\n
A pump track will complement the new active hub at Mill Park, and will be available for the community to use once the rest of the project is completed and officially opened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
