As part of illicit firearms trafficking investigation, Detectives from the Illicit Firearms Squad and Moorabool Crime Investigation Unit executed warrants at three properties in Lal Lal, Werribee and Altona North.<\/p>\n

A number of weapons including three shotguns, three rifles, an air rifle, two inert hand grenades, ammunition and a sword were seized on Tuesday 23 August.<\/p>\n

A VicPol spokesperson said two people have been charged and over 60 firearms have been seized as part of an illicit firearms trafficking investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201cA number of weapons including three shotguns, three rifles, an air rifle, two inert hand grenades, ammunition and a sword were seized.\u201d<\/p>\n

A 62-year-old Werribee man was interviewed and is expected to be charged on summons with a number of firearms offences including firearm possession (trafficable quantity), non-prohibited person possess Cat A and dispose of firearm to not a licensed firearm dealer.<\/p>\n

On 2 July, police executed a warrant at a Clarkefield address as part of this investigation and seized 59 firearms.<\/p>\n

A 29-year-old Clarkefield man was subsequently charged with possession of a traffickable quantity of firearms, possess controlled weapon without excuse and possess cartridge ammunition.<\/p>\n

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates\u2019 Court on 3 October.<\/p>\n

The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
