{"id":11444,"date":"2022-08-31T08:00:57","date_gmt":"2022-08-30T22:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=11444"},"modified":"2024-02-01T20:42:43","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T09:42:43","slug":"bacchus-mash-little-athletics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/bacchus-mash-little-athletics\/","title":{"rendered":"Bacchus Mash Little Athletics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The final Cross Country meet for the season was held on Saturday 20 August at Masons Lane Reserve.\u00a0 The theme was \u2018Pink Day\u2019 where everyone dressed up and donations were collected for the Breast Cancer Network Australia.\u00a0 All races were conducted under a handicap format, calculated on each athlete\u2019s average performance for the season.\u00a0\u00a0 A whopping 37 PBs were recorded on the day.<\/p>\n<p>The Open age athletes were first to compete, racing three laps of a 1km course.\u00a0 Sam White was off scratch and endeavoured to run down the field of athletes.\u00a0 Melton\u2019s Allyson Currall led for the first 1km with Braydn Rich (BM) slowly closing in.\u00a0 In the final kilometre, Sam White (BM) overtook the entire field, racing to another impressive PB performance, taking line honours in a time of 10.40.22 mins.\u00a0 A fast-finishing Elise Cook (BM) crossed the line in 2nd place, while Braydn and Allyson fought it out for the minor placings with Braydn dipping at the line to claim 3rd place. All competitors recorded big PBs.<\/p>\n<p>The Under 6s were next up for their 500m event. Front marker Victoria Hannam (BM) got off to her familiar quick start and held off a fast-finishing field of competitors to take line honours with a PB of 2:48.08 mins.\u00a0 Hendrix Wake (BM) recorded the fastest time \u2013 2:13.62 mins.<\/p>\n<p>The Under 7 &amp; 8 athletes competed over a 1km distance.\u00a0 Gisborne\u2019s Olivia Callister was the front marker and relished the opportunity to lead the event.\u00a0 Olivia went on to take the win, claiming line honours and also a PB.\u00a0 Bacchus Marsh\u2019s Emilia Ibrahim recorded the fastest time with a PB of 4:03.59 mins.<\/p>\n<p>In the Under 9\/10 1.5km event, once again the front marker claimed line honours &#8211; Kiara Callister (Gisborne) making it a double for the family.\u00a0 Zeke Horne (BM) recorded the fastest time \u2013 5:29.35 mins.<\/p>\n<p>Melton\u2019s Alexis Karmiste claimed line honours in the combined Under 11\/12 2km event.\u00a0 While a return to form, saw Patrick Lovett (BM) record the fastest time of 7:41.10 mins.<\/p>\n<p>At the conclusion of all races, athletes, friends and family came together for the end of season Cross Country presentations.<\/p>\n<p>The Champion athletes were announced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior Champions<\/strong> &#8211; Fletcher Reid and Emilia Ibrahim.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Intermediate Champions<\/strong> &#8211; Joshua Askew and Anni Clarke<\/p>\n<p><strong>Senior Champions<\/strong> &#8211; Tyler Vanotti and Elise Cook.<\/p>\n<p>Encouragement awards were presented to Archie Clarke and Ivy Wooding (Junior), Ben Wooding and Alexis Karmiste (Intermediate) and Braydn Rich &amp; Allyson Currall (Senior).<\/p>\n<p>The following athletes received their Bronze Shields after completing 25 Centre runs \u2013 Harry Johansen, Iyla Robinson, James White, Samuel White.\u00a0 Silver Shields (50 runs) were awarded to Myah Estlick, Mackenzie Estlick and Kira Watts.\u00a0 Elise Cook finished off the season being awarded her Gold Shield for 75 Centre runs.\u00a0 All other qualifying athletes were presented with participation awards.<\/p>\n<p>The new 2022\/23 Track &amp; Field season kicks off on Saturday 1st
