{"id":11459,"date":"2022-09-01T09:00:12","date_gmt":"2022-08-31T23:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=11459"},"modified":"2024-02-01T20:40:38","modified_gmt":"2024-02-01T09:40:38","slug":"regimented-dance-routines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/sport\/regimented-dance-routines\/","title":{"rendered":"Regimented dance routines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Carol Saffer<\/p>\n<p>Loud trumpets, drum beats and percussive music are just some of the noise a local dance club perform too.<\/p>\n<p>The Electrik DrillDance Club perform military precision moves dressed in wonderfully colourful costumes while marching in geometric drill moves.<\/p>\n<p>President Tess Falconer said the club trains weekly in Bacchus Marsh and competes in four state competitions yearly, plus the annual state championship.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DrillDance teams perform exciting and challenging routines in categories such as Dance, Prop and Drill-Team and choose their costumes and music to match the theme of each performance,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>At the Australia National Championships held in Adelaide in July, the Intermediate team Electrik Force came third in the Technical Drill, and the Senior Electrikaires achieved second place in Thematic Drill and third in the Thematic Dance competition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe junior team, along with the masters&#8217; team performed well, although they did not place, they had a fantastic experience,\u201d Ms Falconer said.<\/p>\n<p>Many club members live in and around Bacchus Marsh and Melton, but some come from as far afield as Bendigo, Geelong, Point Cook, Kilmore, Broadford and Maryborough.<\/p>\n<p>The club has five age groups, and participants range from a four-year-old to a woman in her 70s.<\/p>\n<p>DrillDancing provides opportunities for physical activity, improved posture, teamwork and coordination.<\/p>\n<p>Various categories begin with Basic Drill and Technical Drill Routines with the ultimate being Thematic DanceDrill, where teams present dazzling routines to their favourite music or theme.<\/p>\n<p>At this level team members become R&amp;B dancers, rock n rollers or story characters as they perform entertaining movements to great music.<\/p>\n<p>Follow the local club at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.electrikdrilldance.com.au\">www.electrikdrilldance.com.au<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Carol Saffer Loud trumpets, drum beats and percussive music are just some of the noise a local dance club perform too.
