Moorabool Council and Bacchus Marsh Police are working together to address poor behaviour by youth in the Bacchus Marsh CBD, and they want to hear from the community.<\/p>\n
A \u2018Bacchus Marsh CBD Committee\u2019 is currently in the works, with police hoping to chat with community stakeholders such as local school principals, the retail and business district, and Council officers.<\/p>\n
Station Commander Senior Sergeant Jennifer Horgan said Bacchus Marsh Police were eager to get the community involved in finding solutions to local issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs part of Neighbourhood Policing, we\u2019re not just listening to what the community is worried about but getting police to specifically address those concerns. Police work with partners like local councils, community groups and government agencies when issues are more complex,\u201d Senior Sergeant Horgan told the Moorabool News.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are forming a local safety committee for the Bacchus Marsh CBD and are asking for interested stakeholders to register their interest. We are reaching out to local businesses, community groups and schools and look forward to meeting with them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Topics of discussion will include who should sit on the committee, how often it should meet, what the committee hopes to achieve when it is formed, explanation of ownership (eg. Perimeters of area), and the possibility of an information sharing forum for all agencies to discuss issues and trends.<\/p>\n
Forming the committee is timely after three youths were spotted on CCTV allegedly attempting to break into the clubrooms of the Bacchus Marsh FNC organisation on Monday 22 August at 3.30am<\/p>\n
