A Dales Creek resident is a nurse by profession and a book illustrator by talent.<\/p>\n
Elyse Kalade teamed up with author Olivia Marchioni, of the children\u2019s book No Way Bay, with whom Elyse went to primary school.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have known each other forever, and she started writing her book five years ago,\u201d Ms Kalade said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is about fussy eaters and how to encourage them to eat their food,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs frustrating as it is for parents, Olivia came up with the idea of including her son in the preparation of his meals, and the book came together.\u201d<\/p>\n
When Ms Kalade read it, and Ms Marchioni asked her to illustrate it, she was thrilled.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am a bit of an arty person,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cOlivia\u2019s gave me full reign to draw my pictures how I wanted.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt took me many hours over nine months to complete the illustrations to a level I was pleased with.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Kalade sought constant communication, consultation and critique from Ms Marchioni, with the final work pleasing both of them.<\/p>\n
No Way Bay is a family story about a boy who isn\u2019t interested in his meals. As a result, Bay is almost impossible to please. Just wait until you see what this genius mum comes up with.<\/p>\n
No Way Bay is an excellent and on-point children\u2019s book, suitable to read at home and in early childhood centres and programs.<\/p>\n
