Council has thanked everyone who took part in their Storm Recovery Habitat Kit program last month.<\/p>\n
In partnership with DELWP Grampians and Landcare Victoria, their Storm Recovery Team were able to offer tree saplings, native plants and nest boxes to residents who were impacted by the June 2021 major storm.<\/p>\n
Juliet and Miles (pictured) live in Bullarto South, right on the border of Moorabool. Their 20-acre property was hit hard by the June storm and they lost some of their oldest trees \u2014 not to mention habitat for local wildlife.<\/p>\n
They’ve now been able to plant some native ground cover using their Habitat Kit.<\/p>\n
“We’ve planted mostly Poa Labillardieri (Silver Tussock) because we\u2019re trying to get a Poa mat going on the ground,” said Juliet.<\/p>\n
“We\u2019ve also put in tea trees [from the Habitat Kit] because this area had lots of the mid-size cover which was habitat for the smaller birds and it all just got squashed with the fallen trees,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Juliet and Miles are about to install three nest boxes from their Habitat Kit for the rosellas in their garden.<\/p>\n
