Have you got an old car sitting in a garage or driveway that you could do without? By donating it to a local SES branch, you could contribute to their lifesaving work.<\/p>\n
The Bacchus Marsh SES Branch has put out a call for old cars to be donated, to be used in road rescue simulations.<\/p>\n
Unit Controller Bill Robson said donated cars were crucial in training local volunteers to rescue drivers in emergency situations.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur Road Rescue training comprises simulated scenarios where extricate trapped patients from car wrecks utilising our hydraulic rescue equipment, commonly known as the jaws of life. This typically involves the removal of doors, roof, et cetera. Donated cars are vital for us to continually enhance our skills as well as training up new members in Road Rescue,\u201d Mr Robson told the Moorabool News.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs Bacchus Marsh and surrounds\u2019 Road Rescue provider, we are responsible for the extrication of trapped patients involved in road, air, industrial, and rail incidents in the area. We have access to a car trailer so can collect, however, if they are able to be dropped off to our headquarters, even better.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Robson said the Bacchus Marsh SES Branch would happily accept \u201cany cars, as long as they are rolling\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ll accept donations any time, we have the capacity to store a couple of cars at our Unit. We are running some new members through their Road Rescue training very soon so would like a couple of cars to cut up,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
