With the state election coming up on Saturday 26 November, the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) is reminding Victorians of some new electoral boundaries \u2013 including one that affects Moorabool.<\/p>\n
Around 21 per cent of voters will be affected by changes to the electoral districts at the 2022 state election, which are the result of a state redivision conducted in 2021 by the Electoral Boundaries Commission (EBC).<\/p>\n
The main change impacting Moorabool is the creation of the District of Eureka \u2013 the seat replaces the District of Buninyong and includes most of Moorabool Shire, including Ballan and Bacchus Marsh, Golden Plains Shire, as well as parts of east Ballarat.<\/p>\n
It will not include Coimadai, Blackwood, Dales Creek, or Korweinguboora, which remain in the District of Macedon.<\/p>\n
The 2021 redivision was the first redivision of both Houses of the Victorian Parliament since 2013.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe VEC has updated the register of electors with the new district and region boundary changes,\u201d Electoral Commissioner Warwick Gately AM said.<\/p>\n
\u201cVoters are now able to check whether their electorates are changing using \u2018Check my enrolment\u2019 on the VEC website, at vec.vic.gov.au\/enrolment\/check-my-enrolment.\u201d<\/p>\n
The changes to Victoria\u2019s state electorates will officially come into effect when the writs for the election are issued on Tuesday 1 November.<\/p>\n
