Crime Stoppers Victoria is asking the community to speak up and keep dangerous drugs off the streets, launching the \u2018Dob in a Dealer\u2019 campaign.<\/p>\n
In collaboration with Victoria Police, Crime Stoppers\u2019 campaign will target those who profit from illicit drugs, focusing on drug manufacturing and supply.<\/p>\n
The illicit drug trade has devastating impacts on all communities, but hits regional communities particularly hard \u2013 and Crime Stoppers wants to encourage Victorians to securely share any information they know.<\/p>\n
Crime Stoppers Victoria Chief Executive, Stella Smith, said there were several signs Victorians could be on the lookout for to alert police to drug activity.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt may be a house with cars visiting at unusual times or an individual with unexplained expensive items,\u201d Ms Smith said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEveryone has a part to play in making their community safe by sharing what they know about crime. This is regardless of how small your tip is. Your information could be the missing piece that assists with an investigation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe understand the concern people may feel when coming forward with information. We want to remind the community that Crime Stoppers is a confidential crime reporting service that does not require any personal details.\u201d<\/p>\n
Victoria Police Assistant Commissioner Tony Langdon said police wanted to \u201cempower the public to help us target those who profit from this activity\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cWorking with Crime Stoppers Victoria allows us to do just that. We have zero tolerance for drug traffickers, especially those who prey on the vulnerable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDrug dealers are hiding in plain sight. Often people in the community know who they are but choose not to report it. We need you to speak up.\u201d<\/p>\n
