{"id":1229,"date":"2017-09-05T02:54:56","date_gmt":"2017-09-05T02:54:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=1229"},"modified":"2024-02-02T16:35:54","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T05:35:54","slug":"opening-soon-promise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/opening-soon-promise\/","title":{"rendered":"Opening soon \u2013 promise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>By Kate Taylor<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s been embarrassing for council, but the section of the Hallets Way extension that remains closed is set to open in the \u2018coming weeks.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The section of O\u2019Leary Way, south of Werribee Vale Rd, has remained closed\u00a0even though the road itself had its official opening weeks ago.<br \/>\nA delay with the transfer of land from developer to Council prevented the road being opened at the same time the rest of Halletts Way was opened.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s very embarrassing &#8211; but out of our control,\u201d Mayor Dave Edwards told the Moorabool News.<\/p>\n<p>A statement released by council last week advised that it \u201cshould be open to traffic in the coming weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, we couldn\u2019t open the southern section as Council was waiting for transfer of titles caught up in a sale of the property that is stuck at the State Revenue Office,\u201d Infrastructure General Manager Phil Jeffrey said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe delay in this process was out of our control and unfortunately, this section couldn\u2019t be opened without the titles being transferred.<br \/>\n\u201cAs soon as we are in receipt of the title, all documents will be lodged with Land Victoria to finalise the issue and the road will be open to the public, which is expected in the coming weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, there\u2019s a safety warning for drivers \u2013 The Moorabool News understands that the TAC would not cover any accidents that occur on the unopened road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe ask the community to obey the closure in place and not drive on this section of road until this has occurred.
