Police have urged parents to have age-appropriate conversations with their child around online safety, with a spike in reports of online abuse.<\/p>\n
Detectives from the Victorian Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team (JACET) \u2013 which is comprised of both Victoria Police and Australian Federal Police investigators \u2013 are calling on parents to have the chat, as reports from at least 100 families have recently come in.<\/p>\n
The reports detail instances where offenders have coerced children, particularly teenage males, into producing explicit images, before extorting them for money.<\/p>\n
