Guest speaker Frank Carland has a wealth of knowledge to draw on from a long career in native vegetation management, particularly with native grasslands.<\/p>\n<p>During the session, the group will discuss the values and threats of native grasslands, have a plant identification workshop (including the opportunity to bring samples from your property), and discuss the management of grasslands.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of this workshop you will understand the values of VVP grasslands\u00a0and the threats to them. be able to identify common native and introduced grasses, understand how to manage grasslands and improve native grass coverage on your property, and know where to find more information.<\/p>\n<p>Remnant patches of original grasslands are rare, and private land hosts some of the best patches \u2013 giving private landholders the unique opportunity to be stewards of native grasslands and improve the condition, connectivity, and extent of these critically endangered ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>To register for the Native Grasslands Identification Workshop, head to events.humanitix.com\/native-grasslands-identification-workshop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Victorian Volcanic Plains (VVP) grasslands have been reduced to less than one per cent of their original coverage \u2013 but you can help increase that, thanks to an upcoming free workshop.
