An Olympian and Commonwealth Games gold medallist is visiting Moorabool this weekend, and kids and adults alike are excited to meet him.<\/p>\n
Matthew Denny won gold for Australia in the discus throw at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, and was just 0.05 metres off bronze at the Tokyo Olympics \u2013 and on Saturday 19 November, he\u2019s paying a visit to the Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre (BMLAC).<\/p>\n
Mr Denny is visiting as a part of \u2018Coles Community Round\u2019, a celebration of Coles\u2019 support of Little Athletics centres across the country.<\/p>\n
BMLAC President Maria Downes said the club and members, were already buzzing about meeting an Olympic athlete.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re all absolutely excited, not just myself as President of course, but the entire Committee and all the Little Athletes, they\u2019re all very happy. Because Coles is a major sponsor of Little Athletics, they also have an association with Olympians such as Matthew Denny,\u201d Ms Downes told the Moorabool News.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll the Centres have a chance to have an athlete visit their centre. We\u2019ve missed out the last couple of years, but this year we were fortunate enough to get a call saying Matthew Denny would be visiting. I think the kids will be well and truly inspired and in awe, I believe he\u2019ll also be giving us a discus demonstration.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Denny will arrive towards the end of Saturday\u2019s session at 11 am.<\/p>\n
Ten $10 Coles vouchers are also up for grabs, to be awarded on the day to Little Athletes wearing a splash of Coles red.<\/p>\n
