{"id":12529,"date":"2022-11-20T07:00:04","date_gmt":"2022-11-19T20:00:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/themooraboolnews.com.au\/?p=12529"},"modified":"2024-02-02T17:56:09","modified_gmt":"2024-02-02T06:56:09","slug":"free-program-for-parents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/themooraboolnews\/news\/free-program-for-parents\/","title":{"rendered":"Free program for parents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In an Australian first, parents and carers across the country now have access to a free, self-directed online program that is university-backed and dedicated to raising their baby.<\/p>\n<p>Launched on November 9, Triple P Online for Baby is a suite of online tools and resources to help take the anxiety and stress out of being a new mum or dad and is supported by comprehensive university research.<\/p>\n<p>Triple P International\u2019s research found that more than two-thirds (71 per cent) of parents in Australia would like to feel more confident in their parenting skills, and only 10 per cent believe they are doing a good job, creating concern in the parenting sector.<\/p>\n<p>Anecdotally, there is an overwhelming desire to be a good parent but only one in ten parents (nine per cent) are currently using a parenting program, course or service.<\/p>\n<p>Triple P International Country Director, Carol Markie-Dadds, said amid increasing awareness of perinatal and postnatal anxiety and depression for both mothers and fathers, Triple P Online for Baby is a welcome support in Australia for expectant parents and those with newborns and infants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecoming a parent is a big change. Most parents-to-be and new parents feel a mix of emotions from joy and excitement to uncertainty, and sometimes sadness or worry,\u201d Ms Markie-Dadds said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParents can positively nurture their baby\u2019s development right from the start with Triple P Online for Baby. The program\u2019s online toolkit is full of tips and ideas \u2013 what you need to know, plus the topics that can be tricky to talk about, like uncomfortable emotions and partner conflict.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Triple P Online for Baby is free in Australia, thanks to funding from the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, under the Parenting Education and Support Program.<\/p>\n<p>The funding supports free online courses from the Triple P\u2019s Positive Parenting Program for all Australian parents and carers who have children under 12 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Parents and carers can sign up now and get positive parenting strategies at: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.triplep.net\">www.triplep.net<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In an Australian first, parents and carers across the country now have access to a free, self-directed online program that is university-backed and dedicated to raising their baby.
